Superior, Arizona, is a town where history, art, and community come together in colorful displays that adorn the walls of our streets. From vibrant scenes of local flora and fauna to powerful depictions of our rich mining heritage, the murals of Superior tell stories that resonate with everyone who takes the time to explore them. And now, there’s a new chapter in our artistic journey – the unveiling of the “Lost” mural by the talented Adrienne Wakefield during the annual Prickly Pear Festival.
Discover the “LOST” Mural
On August 24th at 10 AM, join us on Main Street for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this latest addition to Superior’s mural collection. Located at 180 Main Street, the “LOST” mural is the third mining-themed masterpiece in the Copper Corridor. But this is more than just a mural; it’s an experience that invites you to play a fun “eye spy” game. Hidden within the mural are a hiking boot, a pick, and several desert animals. How many can you find? 🥾⚒️🦎
This special event isn’t just about art – it’s also a celebration of community. The ribbon-cutting will take place during the lively Prickly Pear Festival, adding even more excitement to the day. A Limerick to Guide Your Journey
To add a touch of whimsy to your mural adventure, we’re featuring a limerick that captures the essence of the “Lost” mural:
In Superior's mural, so neat,
Poppies and forget-me-nots greet!
Three "AJs" scattered around,
a bumblebee can be found,
143 dots make the mural complete.
Three butterflies fly in the sky.
A gecko and scorpion nearby.
Two pickaxes dig through,
a horseshoe brings luck on the fly.
A Cow skull rests in the heat.
A New Mexican Zia, a treat!
A hummingbird in flight,
Grandma's love in sight,
A Sun Devil trident can't be beat!
A dragonfly dances with delight,
a hiking boot takes on a great height.
A snake and a heart find their place in the art,
all who wander aren't lost, seems so right!
This playful verse encourages you to explore every inch of the mural, finding the hidden treasures within its colorful design. With over 30 images to discover, it’s a true testament to Adrienne Wakefield’s creativity and her deep connection to our community.
